Changing Sinners to Saints

Born up top in Syracuse, NY, yet raised amongst the southern charm of Ridgeland, South Carolina, Vandarray
Derico, AKA Pastor V is no stranger to the gospel realm. Being the daughter of a Pastor and a Bishop, growing up and in an Apostolic/Church of God in Christ (COGIC), Vandarray directed the choir and performed in the group “Jackson 5 Gospel Singers”, one would naturally think that this was her calling.

For Vandarray, this was not always a foregone conclusion. Vandarray’s journey to impact the lives of others perhaps began with her own trials and tribulations. Which has led her to Atlanta, GA where she has started on her own ministry and also hosts a TV segment called “Women on a Mission”. Her mission does not stop there, Pastor Vandarray has embarked on a journey to change lives through the power of song. Similar to the tunes of Mary Mary and CeCe Winans, Vandarray wants her music to move and inspire every generation.

When asked what is her ultimate goal as a gospel singer?  “I hope to at least change a sinner to a saint…if not by a service then by a melody.” The contemporary/traditional fused gospel album is scheduled to debut in 2010.

What does it mean to be a good pastor in today’s world?  “A good pastor is one that will lead the sheep in the right way and not compromise. Giving the word and living as an example is letting people see that we are all humans and we all make mistakes. That it is our job is to strive for perfection. Walking a straight and narrow and not using the people but helping the people and serving them.”

The world is sure to be blessed with the testimony and true gifts of Vandarray!
